Importing files: Some file types (.tex, .odt) only show up under "All files"

I am unable to reproduce this with LyX on Linux Mint 18.3 (which 
is Ubuntu-based). Can you post a screen shot, like the attached, of the 
file open dialog when it malfunctions?
