Wolfgang,

I'm sorry you're having such hassles with TeXLive and LyX. Since the missing
.cls and .sty files managed to fall off, but they're present on your laptop
why not copy them to the almost-working host? They're text files and you can
add them to whatever directories hold the other class and style files just
as you would when adding new pacages from CTAN.
