LyX & linguistics?

Hi Bernt,

I’m using LyX 2.5 with TeXlive 2026.

If you are using LuaLaTeX or XeLaTeX as the output format, you need to
choose fonts that contain the IPA characters, for example, Noto Serif and
Noto Sans. (See attached.)

Noto Serif looks good; Noto Sans not so much.

Some IPA fonts (I tried Charis SIL) don’t appear to have the asterisk
symbol at the start of your IPA text.

If you are sticking with the defaults (pdftex, no fontspec), I pasted your
paragraph straight into LyX, pressed View, and it just worked right away.
