How to use any dictionary of hunspell?

Hi:
I use Linux Mint.
By default, LyX only allows you to work with certain locales for
spell-checking, synonyms, etc. For example, the Portuguese language has
multiple variants: pt_pt, pt_br, pt_ao, pt_mz, pt_gw, as well as
pt_pt-ao, pt_pt-preao... but LyX only lets you work with pt_br and
pt_pt. Is there any way to choose one, or more, of the other variants?
In linux many programs—such as Thunderbird, Firefox, gedit, xed...—allow
to use any dictionary found in the /usr/share/hunspell directory. Of
course I can make symbolic links inside this directory, but it’s a
workaround that sometimes causes more problems than it solves.
Regards
Ramom
