Exam, LyX and compiling

Hello
I use the exam.layout. I use \numpoints and \numpages. I work on Windows, LyX 2.5.1
Often those numbers are not correct when I make changes and compile using ctrl-R.
I can make them correct in the pdf, by adding e.g. a space somewhere in the document, and then ctrl-R again.
Is this normal behaviour? Can this be solved?
