Probably the LyX pipes (the names are per default .lyxpipe.in and .lyxpipe.out in folder ~/Library/Application\ Support/LyX-2.4) are present.
They shouldn’t if LyX is not running. Additionally some process has the pipes open and is waiting for input on it.

You cannot turn it off on Mac.
