LyX-Maxima integrals do not work

Greetings,

The attached screenshot is from Section “Computer Algebra Systems” of the math.lyx help document shipped with LyX 2.4.2.1. It can also be found on page 64 of “LyX’s Detailed Math Manual” version 2.4.x.

All the examples given here work fine from within LyX using the maxima CAS engine, except the 3rd and the 4th (integrals). I cannot get any integrals to evaluate. They do work using maxima syntax directly in LyX, e.g. integrate(x^{2},x) works, but the usual mathematical notation with the integral sign does not.

Has anyone had success with evaluating any integral in LyX via maxima?

This is with LyX 1.4.2.1 on Mac silicon. As far as I remember, it used to work in previous versions.
