Garamond police does not support italics

That cannot work. First run in a terminal (Command Window)

luafindfont garamond

to see what garamond fonts are installed. It makes no ense to define
garamond for SansSerif and Monotype, because there are no Garamond
for these font families.

Choose noc special font in document->settigs->fonts (see image)
and then use in the preamble
