That’s the point. I’ve installed it on 12.1 and upgraded to 12.3 and 12.6. 

After upgrade to 12.3 LyX started to trigger the request to install Python. See https://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/12523. This happened because of Apples decision to remove Python 2.7 from the system on upgrade to 12.3 and provide an Python 3 stub instead.

There was no problem to upgrade to 12.6 afterwards. But this I didn’t know until trying it.

I’ll try that next to see what’s the situation on these OS’s is.
