Syncing skim with LyX

I don't export to tex and then to pdf, I said that just to clarify that .lyx is one type of a file extension, .tex is another one, and .pdf is yet another file..
By the way, what does the $$i option that you added to "open -a Skim.app" do?
With the help of the other members my LyX is set to the first way you described. Thanks very much.
