Thanks for the feedback, Ken. I'll see if I can remedy the problem.

You can get around it by including something like the following under 
Document > Settings > Preamble:

\setstocksize{8.5in}{5.5in}

And, as Daniel pointed out, the layouts depend on the Memoir class, so 
you can use other Memoir commands in the document preamble as well.
