I should add the approach uses the standard visibility settings of
toolbars but instead of showing toolbars, shows tabs. So, if one sets a
toolbar via View > Toolbars, one gets a tab that behaves accordingly,
i.e. On makes it visible, Off hides it, and Automatic makes it visible
under certain circumstances. However, with the tabbed/compact toolbar
ui, it makes sense to set fewer toolbars to Automatic or even Off
because there is plenty of space for additional tabs.
