Flawed 2.3.6.1 upgrade

It used to work but apparently no longer. And, ... removing
~/.lyx/ui/classic.ui allows lyx to load (version 2.3.6 restored from
incremetal backup of a day a couple of weeks ago.

The font is still small and changing the background color and reconfiguring
doesn't change the color.

FWIW, a visual 'busy' indicator while the application's reconfiguring would
be really useful.

It's working well enough now to be used. I'll futz with font size and
changing the too-bright white background as time permits.
