Thanks all who helped me with the spellchecking.
I do have enchant (Debian bullseye) and in

enchant/which is in ~/.config/enchant$

de_DE.dic  de_DE.exc  de.dic  de.exc  en_GB.dic  en_GB.exc  en_US.dic 
en_US.exc

I found the added personal dictionary in en_GB.dic

So, all is well
