pdflatex not finding bibliography format

I'm converting a publication with references and a bibliography to a slide
presentation. In the Settings the document class is KOMA-Script article and
I leave the bibliography choices at their defaults. I've removed the
bibliography from the end of the document.

Yet, when I compile it lyx complains it cannot find the bibliography style.
Usually, a second recompilation succeeds.

I must be missing something bibliographic that I need to delete and I'm not
seeing what that is.

Please pass me a clue at what I should check.
