OK, that sounds like what Uwe was installing Perl for. So TeX Live has a
minimal version of Perl that it can install, so no problem there.
MiKTeX, on the other hand, seems not to do so.
Am I right that the splitindex_command LyXRC variable is not handled in
the UI?
