Did we make an 'official' decision about this? If so, has it been
recorded somewhere, like the development notes in the repo? If we're
really prepared to allow Qt pretty much everywhere---i.e., after all
these years, we're willing to admit that LyX is a Qt-based app---then
there may well be a lot of simplifications we could make, maybe in the
2.5 cycle. Of course, that would make us more vulnerable to Qt bugs....
