Increase the space between paragraphs in the GUI

Hi all,

I've really liked using LyX overall, but one thing that bugs me is that the GUI
doesn't put any extra blank space between paragraphs.  For me, just a little bit
of extra space would make it much easier to read documents while I'm composing
them.  I'm pretty sure that there's not currently an option to add space between
paragraphs, but I'm reasonably competent when it comes to C++, so I feel like
this should be the kind of thing that I can do myself. 

I'm hoping someone can briefly point me in the right direction, in terms of what
files to edit/what classes to familiarize myself with/etc, to implement this
feature.  I looked briefly at the source code, but it didn't seem like I'd be
able to easily understand it on my own.  Any help would be appreciated!
