Returning to LyX

Two things about these patches:

1/ please subscribe ufogiel at lyx.org to the lyx-cvs mailing list so that 
your commits are accepted there. You can opt to not receive the messages 
if you prefer. If you need help, ask me.

2/ several of these changes seem to rely on recent changes to the LaTeX 
tools. It would be nice to keep an eye on what version of TeXlive (for 
example) is required and avoid to break LyX for users of older TeX 
distros. For example, would a user of Ubuntu 22.04 LTS be able to use 
LyX for bidi text after these changes? I am not worried about things 
that never worked well, but we should avoid to break things that used to 
work.
