The first thing that I see is that the cursor is not where it should be. 
Can you reproduce this without selecting?

Other than that, the selection looks almost OK, except that the left 
margin on the second row should be painted as selection.

I'd appreciate it if you could provide a small self-contained file for 
me to play with.
