LyX chokes while importing a probably legitimate TeX file.

You need a corresponding aesconf.layout (LyX layout file) to the
aesconf.cls LaTeX class. On a first glance, the class does not look
that specific, so it will be not too difficult to devise such a layout
from an existing one.
