Feature suggestion: Cross-reference previews in LyX workspace

Greetings,

Would the developers be interested in implementing the following feature: A small preview snippet pops up when hovering over a cross-reference in LyX workspace. I mean something along the lines of the now-unmaintained fancy-preview package

Several pdf viewers have this capability, such as Skim and Texshop viewer, and TexStudio has it for LaTeX code. LyX has this for citations but not for other types of references, as far as I can tell. The closest thing one now has is to control-click to go to the reference location, check it out, and then navigate back to cursor location to continue with the editing.
