So, after all this thinking, we did this. I tried to see if we are
serious and found by trial and error that Ubuntu 15.10 ships gcc 5.4 and
Qt5.4, our two lower bounds. Nice!, I thought and I installed a virtual
machine.
The thing is, the first thing our configure script complains about is
that I do not have python 3.8 installed. Indeed, this is 2019 stuff.
So we have to fix our limit. Is that 2015 (gcc 5, Qt 5.5, python 3.4) or
2019 (gcc 9, Qt 5.1x, python 3.8)?
