Thanks for the output. So pdftoppm is found correctly on windows.

I tried to reproduce your problem, but I looks fine on my screen in
both cases. The only difference is that IM is capable to preserve
transparency of the first figure while pdftoppm can not. Apart from
that it looks identical.

Didier, can you send me privately your screenshot?
Thibaut, can you reproduce the wrong preview with the example sent
by Didier on Windows?
