Notice that it seems that those directories are already being used, at
least on my system.

When running lyx 2.4.x I got this warning:

kf.config.core: Migrating old staterc
"/home/jamatos/.local/share/LyX/lyx-24x/lyx-24xstaterc" ->
"/home/jamatos/.local/state/lyx-24xstaterc"

I am aware that this probably comes from qt integrating with kde (in my
case) but the horse is out of the barn already. :-D
