Not exactly what you ask for, but some comment-conversion hacks accumulated here over the years:

Again, not exactly what you ask for but branches might be of use if you are after
enabling/disabling export. You could use preamble magic to turn contents of specific
branch into comment inside exported .tex and then use standard branch mechanism for
global enabling/disabling.

Note type can be changed locally via context menu, but you probably know that :)
