My question was more about what you see in Help>About LyX.
This tells you what Qt version is used by LyX.
It should also tell you that you are running on top of platform "xcb".

HiDPI is used for monitors with really high resolution, where text and
UI would be too small.
On plain Ubuntu, I can change that in the Display pane of the control
panel. Typically, people use a 2:1 zoom ratio (but I do not use it myself).

What messages do you have if you run lyx from console with option "-dbg
workarea"?
