2.3.7 GUI is mess on some debian system

Hi all,

citing debian bug in #1029234:

"After the last upgrade of the package, the lyx editor is broken. The lyx
window seems normal, but when I enter the menus, the writing disappears or
moves and it is not possible to understand where the cursor is. The menus
become unusable. Nevertheless also the characters and words in the file also
appear, disappear and overlap. "


We worked out with Stefano on the culprit and tracked it down to the commit:

JMarc, any other clue than to allow users disabling this improvement?

Stefano is not on devel list, so please keep him CC-ed.
(He is capable to test patches if we have some idea how to address it.)
