Fixed in trunk at 3b28ac46376.

I really wonder why this special behavior is by default, since it is 
only useful for interactive edition.

I would prefer to have
   char-delete-forward confirm
bound to the <del> key.

What do people think? This would make our basic lfuns more usable for 
scripting.
