I did read your patch, but I do not know what the use case is. For a 
given branch, is closes open branches and opens closed ones? Setting 
them to some preferred state (active=open) would seem more useful to me.

I am not totally sure, since I think we can extend a bit the semantics 
of inset-toggle to make your patch actually useful.
