Git clone terribly slow

I get here 300 KB/s (EU as well).

One option is to use --depth for clone to download in smaller chunks.

The very last option - there are individuals on github who *seem*
to mirror git repo so if you are desperate you could try e.g.
https://github.com/cburschka/lyx
but no guarantees whatsoever about such sources...
