lyx in plasma sessions

I think you mean that when you have set in kde systemsetting to restore 
the previous session, that lyx is not restored while other apps are.

In LyX "Preferences > Look and Feel > Document handling" you can set 
whether or not to open documents in tabs. You can tie LyX to Plasma 
activities, but that is more a Plasma question.
