Automake question

Hi all,
suppose I want to add a script to lib/scripts. What is needed to make it installed
in automake environment?

Apparently to use
        $ git add lib/scripts/abcd
and add 'abcd' to the list dist_scripts_DATA in lib/Makefile.am
is not sufficient.
