Error output only sent to stdout when lyx fails to create a cache dir

Hello,
  I found by accident that if lyx fails to create a cache dir then the warning 
is only sent to stdout.

  I was surprised because lyx would not start, I only found the issue after 
running lyx from the command line:

"Could not create cache directory `...'."

  In this case I would expect a graphical warning, that is the core of this 
message.

FWIW the issue was my fault I replaced the cache dir with a symbolic link to 
.cache/lyx so that all the cache content is in the same place. Since I changed 
computers I had erased all the content of the .cache dir and thus the reason 
for the problem.
