Hard to say, but the width of a single symbol should not be smaller
than the width of its bounding box. However, as shown in the examples
by Scott and yours, in some cases it should be slightly larger (I think
it is what is now called horizontal advance by Qt). So, it should catch
the vast majority of cases.
