ctests: How to protect against tests accidentally being ignored? i.e., ctest -N changing

Suppose I make a mistake in a regex in ignoredTests and I accidentally
ignore a bunch of tests I did not plan to. We might never know. We have
so many ctests now (which is great!) that I would not realize if we
ignored one thousand tests accidentally.
The problem above is not the same for invertedTests since we would
realize those due to test failures.
Of course, I can just store locally ctest -N and check it once in a
while and compare the differences, but I have not been doing that and I
think I will be too lazy to consistently do that in the future.
Any ideas on how we can automate making sure that we do not lose tests
accidentally?
