This ABI is only available starting with gcc 5:
https://developers.redhat.com/blog/2015/02/05/gcc5-and-the-c11-abi/

Without it, gcc is not thread-safe, as weird as it may seem.

So It seems that we have to keep this a bit longer (unless we require 
gcc 5).
