Mac: Session information not (re-)stored

With LyX 2.3.3 on Mac, the session information seems not to be saved or
restored properly. This applies to the cursor position in documents and
to the UI (window and icon size). Sometimes, the UI settings are kept
but I cannot reproduce in which cases (closing only the document,
quitting LyX, it does not seem to be consistent).
When I click on Preferences -- Session handling -- Clear all session
information, nothing seems to happen (should it?) and the names of last
opened documents are still kept.
This disturbs working with LyX on a Mac severely for me. Do you have any
ideas? Thanks!
