    <p>Again, it's just a guess, but I think this might have been a
      'stale' lockfile. It got left behind at some point so Dropbox is
      confused. That's why the file seems like a 'normal' file somehow
      and you're being asked if you want to delete it.</p>

            appear. I would check back on my Windows computer to see if
            I find this file hidden in the folder, as I cannot see it on
            my Mac (I can see it for another file that is currently
            opened by my coauthor in a Mac).

                I can confirm that the #...# file is a lock placed by
                Dropbox to avoid collisions. That said, I've never
                gotten a message from Dropbox telling me it was deleting
                the lock file.<br>
