Yes and no. On Mac there are two shortcuts aka steps for it.
1) Use Command-E for an update of the system wide find buffer.
2) Use Command-G for the find next operation (or Command-Shift-G for find previous)

The Command-F shortcut opens the search window with the current contents of the
system wide find buffer on start. Using the search window updates the contents
of the system wide find buffer.
